Afterschool/ Summer Instructors & Teaching Assistants

MetIncPowerCo is looking for instructors and Teaching Assistants to support our students in our afterschool, community learning labs and summer enrichment programs. These individuals will lead instruction of the MetIncPowerCo curriculum, provide assistance on projects in afterschool, community-wide, or summer projects, and work with program facilitators to make sure our programs have what they need for positive student outcomes, delivery of fun, robust and equitable learning environments, organized and orderly classroom management, at in-person or virtual sites. MetIncPowerCo Instructors and TAs will receive training on the curriculum, however, it is always recommended that you have prior experience in areas of tutoring, mentoring, computer functions, academic standards in math, science, and reading. For summer camps and enrichment dates dates will run June 4-July 29th. Afterschool enrichment dates run during school calendar days based on the county where hosted site is from August through May.

Requirements

  • Must be able to commit to at least 1 (one) three-week teaching engagement, in addition to 1 (one) week of preparation time (“Week Zero”).
    • Active program time is generally from 8:00 am – 12:30 pm, but there are other teaching team responsibilities that take place outside of active programming. Teaching Assistant hours are from 7:00 am – 1:00 PM daily
    • Program dates:
      • Round 1 Week Zero: June 1st – June 3rd; Classes Run: June 6th – June 24th
        • Round 2 Week Zero: July 11th – July 15th; Classes Run: July 18th – July 29th   
  • Ability to commit to the following hour requirements: Week Zero Prep Time ~ 25 hours per week; In Program Work Time ~ 24-30 hours per week
  • Additionally, candidates must be able to commit to a multi-day Virtual Teacher Training workshop prior to the program’s start date (TBD). Teachers are compensated for time spent in attending the training and completing all deliverables.

Afterschool/ Summer Site Coordinators

MetIncPowerCo is looking for Site Coordinators to serve as the programming liaison between our organization, and schools as well as public sites where our academic and community learning labs are held. Site Coordinators main function is to help identify sites, schedule site visits, schedule trainings, and ensure our programs are run in an efficient, orderly fashion, maintaining an equitable learning environment while providing excellence to our school and public space partners. It is recommended that Site Coordinators have previous work experience with K-12 schools, event planning, program administration, and/or coordinating community events. Site Coordinators work alongside program coordinators and on occasion, the Executive leadership team.  

Academic Specialist- Bilingual

MetIncPowerCo is looking for an Academic Specialist- Bilingual (Spanish) to oversee and manage all academic support focused on Spanish-speaking K-12 students. Main job duties include scheduling sessions, tracking attendance, program development, assisting in training and hiring of Spanish speaking SI/tutors, facilitating interactive academic support sessions for students, working with faculty and supporting other MetIncPowerCo staff and partners in overseeing the unique academic needs of bilingual students enrolled in our afterschool, summer, and community-based enrichment programs. Candidates will have previous experience in the design, development, implementation and management in an academic support program for strengthening English speaking and thought focusing on Spanish. 

K-5 Literacy Specialist

MetIncPowerCo is looking for a K-5 Literacy Specialist with a strong background in Reading and ELA and the ability to work with and for teachers. Our K-5 Literacy Specialist will work hand-in-hand with our Program Coordinator, Site Coordinator, Afterschool partners, and MetIncPowerCo leadership team to prioritize instructional plans, measurement, evaluation, provide curriculum support, and serve as an academic subject-matter-expert on literacy, reading comprehension, and grade-level reading data trends. Title I experience is preferred, but not mandatory. The applicant must hold, be eligible for, or be in the process of pursuing a minimum of a T-5 Georgia Certificate in Early Childhood Education. The ideal applicant must hold Reading Specialist certification or Reading Endorsement, or be enrolled in a Reading Endorsement program.
A minimum of four years of successful teaching experience is preferred, possessing teaching experience resulting in an extensive repertoire of knowledge of Scientifically Based reading research, instructional strategies, the teaching of reading/writing, and evaluation and assessment. Applicant must have the ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community, in addition to supporting our mission to advance equity in education for all children regardless of zip code. 

Shuttle Bus Driver- GA CDL Class A or B

MetIncPowerCo is looking for a currently licensed GEORGIA CDL driver, Class A or B, along with "Passenger" and "Air Brake" endorsement to operate our Mobile Academic Classroom On Wheels (25 retrofitted passenger shuttle bus). Must have at least 3-5 year driving experience recent school, commercial driving experience, operating Motor Coach, City Transit Bus, or Over the Road Commercial Truck Experience. Clean driving history a must. Accidents or Drivers License points within the last 10 years will be disqualified. Please note: CDL-Permit will not be accepted. Prior to interview, all drivers must already be licensed for the state of GA. Driver will be responsible for Daily commutes across an 8 county footprint. Some weekends will be required for field trips and community learning labs.
