Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company Scales Mobile Library & Reading Program with State-of-the-Art Book Vending Machine in Henry County, Georgia
McDonough, GA- For over the past 5 years, Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company has been bringing books and the love of reading to underserved communities through the Just Say YES to Reading Program and PopUp Mobile Libraries.
We are proud to announce the launch of our new book vending machine and mobile library initiative supporting the Southern Crescent and Central Georgia community through our Everyday Places Mobile Library unit. Our goal through this innovate state-of-the-art resource is to scale our efforts in public spaces to provide access to books and reading materials to communities where libraries and bookstores are limited or nonexistent.
In residence first at Dutchtown Elementary School in Henry County, our pilot program with Henry County Schools made it’s debut on Read Across America Day and marked this as the first of its kind for The Southern Crescent area here in Georgia. Working with the ELA Coordinator Mrs. LaKeisha Bolling and Dutchtown Leadership team (pictured above left to right, Dr. Chad Chisolm, Dr. Sherri Greene, LaKeisha Bolling, and Dr. Whitney Pasch* not pictured), students will be incentivized to engage with this innovative access point to literacy before, during and afterschool.
Across other areas, our Mobile Library will feature book vending machines that will be placed in community centers, parks, and schools, providing a self-serve option for residents to choose from a selection of books, while also being supported year-round in our custom Google classroom, supplemental workshops, camps, and Afterschool programs accessible through the QR-coded books inside the machine. With one scan of the QR code, residents will be instantly granted access to register for our Transformation Station app portal to choose the level of service and resources they are interested in. Accessed through free tokens provided by site partners, students and their families have a zero-cost option to accessing books all year long and creating home libraries.
Through the Everyday Places Mobile Library will bring a rotating collection of books and educational materials directly to communities, offering a more interactive and engaging experience for children and families. Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company has intentionally prioritized partners in communities located in zip codes that do business inside areas identified by the United Way of Greater Atlanta Child Well-Being Index Map as target zip codes for learning loss.
We believe that access to books and reading is a basic human right, and that everyone should have the opportunity to learn and grow through reading.
Metamorphasis Powerhouse Company welcomes donations to help continue scaling this initiative to historically underserved areas, bringing the joy of reading and education to children and families in need.
