This entry-level track supports participants who have little to no experience with technology. We start with the basics: understanding devices, turning them on/off, adjusting settings, and using essential smartphone functions like calling, texting, and taking photos. Through hands-on, patient instruction, participants build confidence and a foundation for digital literacy. This component is designed for those at the “No Tech” and “Low Tech” stages, ensuring that no participant is left behind
Participants learn how to use mobile apps for everyday life—banking, shopping, communication, transportation, and entertainment—while understanding the role of Bluetooth and AI-powered tools like voice assistants (Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant). This component simplifies technology into practical, life-enhancing tools and introduces the “High Tech” level for those ready to dive deeper into emerging technologies.
Focused on building online confidence, this module covers cybersecurity basics, such as creating strong passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, and avoiding scams targeting seniors. Participants also learn safe browsing habits, how to use antivirus software, and strategies to protect personal information from identity theft. Real-world examples and scam-prevention checklists make the content practical and actionable.
This component helps participants take control of their health by learning to access telehealth platforms, schedule virtual appointments, communicate with healthcare providers online, and use wearable devices or health apps to monitor well-being. We break down the benefits of telehealth, such as convenience and access, while teaching digital etiquette and troubleshooting tips for healthcare visits.
For adults and seniors interested in rejoining the labor force or launching encore careers, this module offers resume-building with online tools, digital job searching, LinkedIn optimization, and basic productivity software skills (Word, Excel, Google Workspace). We also explore gig economy opportunities and entrepreneurship options, preparing participants for modern workforce trends and remote job platforms.
This component addresses the cultural and systemic barriers that limit tech access for older adults. We highlight the importance of inclusion in a tech-driven world, showing participants how to advocate for their digital rights, access affordable devices or internet services, and remain connected to younger generations. Peer mentoring and intergenerational learning opportunities are incorporated to build confidence, community, and ongoing support.
